Overflow Raingarden
A raingarden offers the solution to a parking lot’s water overflow problem.
Overview
During a commercial landscape installation led by Element Eco-Design, we witnessed overland water flow coming from the parking lot. Conversations with the operations manager revealed that this was a common problem, particularly for creating ice in the parking lot during the winter.
Key Elements
- Tiered raingarden designed to temporarily hold the overflow and feed perennial plants before flowing underground towards a pond.
Update
As of February 2016, the raingarden continues to beautify the area, and is working well during the winters as a place for snow removal.
