“With the spot checks we are forced to talk to each other and dive deeper. It’s in a format that doesn’t feel awkward. Before this I couldn’t talk about my feelings. I used to say “it’s not my thing” talking about feelings. Through your process it became easier and natural. It’s a step by step system to discuss what’s important to us.”

“For me and for us as a couple it’s amazing in how few weeks we look at ourselves and others in a different way. It’s a big positive experience with our communication with each other. We’ve been with each other for 18 years, how is it our communication is so much better? It’s a lot better than it used to be. Thank you.”

Educator/Activist/Author/Change MakerEducation, Land Design, Life Design, Life Design for Permaculture, PDC Student, SpeakingJavan Bernakovitch has presented several times in our Earth Activist Trainings, and I’m always so happy to have him! His work combines personal empowerment with a hard-headed business sense and a deep understanding of the permaculture principles and their practical applications. Our students find his work helps them determine their own niche in the permaculture world, and is especially useful when they have some basic knowledge and are looking at what direction to take next. He has my highest recommendation!

CoachLife Design, Life Design for Permaculture, SpeakingJavan joined our monthly online Gathering for Change Agents to lead a discussion about sustainability. He wove a tremendous spectrum of insight in a way that was accessible and inspiring. It connected humanity’s future to nature, certainly, but it didn’t limit the discussion of sustainability to a typical notion of “saving” nature. Javan eloquently presented a compelling narrative that helped us all realize that we are a shared ecology, and we need to start thinking and acting in that way if we are to flourish.

Farmer - SwedenBusiness, Client, Holistic Life Context, Land Design, Life DesignI first heard Javan speak on The Ruminant podcast, in an episode on farmer mental health. Javan’s way of communicating really resonated, and I’ve listened to that episode a few times now to revisit what he explained.I sensed really genuine compassion, humour, and knowledge born of experience, and thought ‘this guy is legit, and I would really like to talk to him myself’. I learned some powerful ideas while working through Javan’s Single Decision session, and I would recommend it to someone who is having trouble with decision-making.The questions he posed before the session were thought-provoking and compelled me to look at myself honestly and with kindness. Javan’s approach in the whole process was open-hearted, generous, warm and quite firm in asking for me to show up with authenticity. I appreciated all of it.Thanks a million!

Project Manager, East Africa Permaculture Project - Vancouver, BC, CanadaBusiness, Client, Education, Holistic Life Context, Life DesignJavan’s course (Holistic Life Context) helped my team and I discover our “why” and coached us in developing our core values. It helped us find order in the chaos that we were headed toward.
I recommend this course to anybody who is starting a business or non-profit to make sure you and your team are all on the same wavelength and to avoid any future catastrophes.
Figuring out the inner workings of your future organization can help you avoid major breakdowns or even burnout when it is already too late to change anything.
This course is an indispensable investment to any organization. It will get you on the right track with proper habits, goal setting, communication, progress tracking and will allow you to create the infrastructure you need for success.
Javan is an encyclopaedia of information and his wealth of knowledge is priceless. He will go above and beyond the call of duty to recommend books, resources, websites, people to connect with etc.
This course is a gift and will leave you inspired, confident and ready to face any challenge that comes your way.

Professional Gardener, Toronto, CanadaLife Design, Limiting BeliefsJavan and I connected for 10 sessions around personal resistance work. His approach was supportive, adaptable, and highly practical. I have noticed tangible changes in my inner and outer life months after completing these sessions, and I look forward to working with him in the coming years for his expertise in personal and professional development.
I originally approached Javan as a regenerative business mentor, and he was quick to identify the personal root of my professional challenges. Our first “good fit call” was really a wake-up call for me. In the past I have turned to talk therapists, a life coach, and self-help books/podcasts to help tackle the ol’ demons. I am confident that working with Javan has been the most influential in this regard. I now have access to a number of tools that we tested together, with concrete evidence that they work for me. As someone who values a good, lean toolkit, this is awesome.
Javan is the real deal. He will help you develop a foundation of the right skills for your journey. He will call out your bullshit in a respectful and gentle way, guiding you closer to the truth. Most importantly, he will genuinely care about what you are working on together. My advice for anyone who embarks with Javan is to do the work, be as open as possible, and enjoy the process. And be silly when you can, it’s way more fun!
I feel so thankful to have connected with Javan. In a dark time, our weekly sessions were brilliant.

Farmers - USABusiness, Client, General, Holistic Life Context, Life Design, Single Decision SessionWe called Javan as we listened to his podcasts for years about making better decisions. We were at a cross roads with our farm and family. The time was very valuable to us. You’re really good at this.
We needed attention and someone to hear us out. You listened in a very non-judgemental way to very judgemental stuff! The homework you provided gives us something solid to work on instead of being lost in fatigue.
We’ve been looking at context work for years and we get it now. We can’t get bogged down with our stuff. Thank you.

Farmer, Writer - Wales, UKEducation, Life Design, Limiting Beliefs, PodcastHi Javan, just a quick message to say I’ve just listened to two of your interviews with Diego Footer, and wanted to say how much I’ve taken from them. Thanks so much for doing the work and sharing it. I appreciate it.
I run a small farm in Wales and currently taking some time away for the first time in 3 years and I’m utilizing your advice and pondering what you’re saying.
Holistic Life Context, Life Design, Life Design for Permaculture, PodcastSo good! I will be watching this several times.
I first heard about Javan on the Permaculture Voices podcast, which coincided nicely during the time my husband and I were deep in a love affair with the idea of being “farmers”. After hearing about his system, my husband and I had some difficult and uncomfortable conversations about whether farming really fits into our context, and it turns out it didn’t. I definitely shed some tears. BUT! We ended up buying a little house in my hometown of Grand Forks, BC, we can comfortably afford our lifestyle, and my kids get to grow up near grandparents. I am so grateful that this is the direction we took. Thank you, Javan!
